Avanti Galleri in cooperation with Ms. Zonia Velasco, curator of the Badillo Museum Collection, is offering previews of the renowned Potenciano Badillo Philippine Cultural Artifacts and Fine Art Collection.

Never before on such a grand scale have historical Philippine antiquities been available to collectors. These rare former museum provenance items have toured numerous countries and been uniquely showcased in exhibitions at some of the finest museums and venues of our modern day such as The Cultural Center of The Philippines in Manila - San Diego Museum of Man - Asian Art Museum San Francisco - New Orleans Cultural Center - Martin Gallery Dallas & The Philippine Consulate in Hawaii.

Mr. Badillo is distinguished as "The Father of Philippine Antiques". His collection is well documented in the Filipino Heritage Series Publications. With the collection being noted of such significance, Mr. Badillo was designated his own wing on the mezzanine level for the Mindanao Sultan Collection at The Cultural Center Museum of the Phillipines in Manila.

The 17th century Mindanao Museum Cabo's owned by the Sultan of Tugaya is always a focal point of the collection along with historical emphasis being given to The Moro Wars Cannon's used against General Pershing. These cannons were crafted by Filipino, Arab and Chinese artisans.

Mr. Badillo's collection also encompasses additional rare war memorabilia, Santos, Igorot carvings, Bulul's from the 14th century and other historical artifacts indigenous to the Philippines.

In 1972, leaving a bulk of it behind in his four stores and filling two museums in Manila, he still brought with him to the United States 60 tons of artifacts, valued at $2.4 million at the time.

The collection today, is what remains of the vast collection that had been accumulated and gathered from the 7,000 islands of the Philippines during a span of more than 50 years.
